Dates:  Half Terms and School Holidays and Throughout 2015   – 10 am – 5 pm

Price:   £15  per student  (30 minutes per student)

Level:    Beginners and Progressers

Max:     4-6  people per course session

This is fun session where students create a unique coloured glass fused panel for yourself or as a gift!

Students learn to design a unique glass fused panel using different types of glass pre-cut colour glass shapes, carve into the glass using embossed inclusion and copper wire ready for kiln fusing.

No experience required. All ages welcome, bookings essential. Suitable for ages five years and above, individuals, family or groups. Children must be accompanied by adults.

To create a glass fused panel for a taster course takes approximately 30 minutes. SALT can offer  a group of four to eight students a sessions for 30 mins. When booking SALT provide an approximate time for your booking but recommend that you arrive at least 10 minutes before your allotted time.

kfusing.DSCF1776During this fusing course students explores designing glass panels learning how to cut coloured glass and use ceramic fibre papers to carve and emboss into the glass  and use colour frits powders  and copper inclusion to create unique glass panels ready for kiln fusing. No experience required.

PRP4This comprehensive course focuses on the exciting potential of clay to plaster quartz mould making to create cast glass pieces fired in the kiln.  The first part of the course covers the principles of working with and modelling  using various materials to provide forms and textures. The course then moves on to explore plaster mould making techniques using plaster quartz for casting with glass ready firing in a kiln.

The work produced will be cast in a kiln for several days. Materials and equipment will be provided. Additional glass can be purchased to demand and depending of scale of work.

The first day covers the key principles of rubber model making working directly from found objects (modelled, organic or made-made) to create a unique rubber mould pour to set over night. The second day of the course covers the rubber mould’s transference to plaster quartz moulds techniques to then prepare a cast in glass ready to fire in the kiln.

 

The work produced will be cast in a kiln for several days. Materials and equipment will be provided. Additional glass can be purchased to demand and depending of scale of work.
