This two day course provides an indepth hand on experience of making silicone rubber moulds that can be used for a range of techniques for glass casting. Suitable for beginners and the more experienced.
This comprehensive course focuses on the exciting potential of silicone rubber mould making and transference to plaster quarts moulds to create cast glass pieces fired in the kiln. The first day covers the key principles of rubber model making working directly from found objects (modelled, organic or made-made) to create a unique rubber mould pour to set over night. The second day of the course covers the rubber mould’s transference to plaster quartz moulds techniques to then prepare a cast in glass ready to fire in the kiln.
The work produced will be cast in a kiln for several days. Materials and equipment will be provided. Additional glass can be purchased to demand and depending of scale of work.
