The course will provide a comprehensive introduction in combining screen-printed images onto glass using several techniques including screen printing directly onto float glass and transfer printing with glass and ceramic enamels. With comprehensive demonstrations covering selecting suitable imagery, coating a screen with photosensitive emulsion, printing onto glass using suitable enamels for working with glass to kiln firing cycles, students will use their own images and screen print with several printed colour enamels and layers of glass to create complex imagery formation and kiln firings.
How to prepare: Students can use their own images for course such as line drawings, photographic or old engravings. Please email a A5 size black and white digital image at 240 dpi (high contrast) in jpg format at least one week prior to the course.
By the end of the course each student will produce several unique glass printed pieces and gain a good understanding of screen-printing onto glass and details of the types of equipment and materials required will be outlined along with suppliers.
Students can collect glass work after it has cooled down the following day in the kiln or alternatively arrange for P&P.
