SALT offers a range of courses throughout the year for students to create a unique glass-print art work. Course details below include Glass Blowing, Kiln Glass Fusing & Embossing, Casting, Paperweights to Printmaking onto Glass & Sand Casting.  SALT also provide Group & 1;1  Bespoke Courses.

Courses are designed for all ages, families and groups with no experience to artists and designers. SALT’s teaching environment is informal with well equipped facilities. Courses are taught by the experienced tutors Max Lamb (RCA) and Dr Fiona Wilkes (Slade, UCL). 

Group – Educational – 1:1  Bespoke CoursesSALT offer courses for organisations, companies, schools and the voluntary sector & 1:1  bespoke course for individuals and professionals.  Studio Hire is available. Kiln Glass Fusing Taster Course

One Day Screen Printing onto Glass Course

Explore the exciting potential of screen printing onto glass.

This one day introduction into screen printing onto glass includes demonstration cover suitable imagery, coating screens, screen-printing techniques, enamels to kiln firing cycles. Students will learn screen-printing techniques onto glass and use enamels ready for kiln firing.

Summary: Courses – Educational Programmes – Studio Hire

 

SALT’s teaching environment is relaxed, friendly and informal and studio has well equipped facilities. Courses are normally limited to a maximum of four to six people to ensure a high quality of tuition and experience. SALT also provide group booking courses for all ages and abilities for 12 people per session. Courses are designed as both an entry level workshops and focus on learning basic skills as a foundation for future development and all provide a high level of input and support from Max and Fiona.

Each course will be aimed for people with an interest in creative glass and screen-print processes with no experience to those with some or artists who wish develop their skills in a particular area or technique. Tuition includes materials, tool usage, and colour required for courses.

Students and workshop participants are asked to arrive 10 minutes before the course.Appropriate footwear is required, leather boots are preferred or leather shoes are acceptable. No open toed shoes or sandals. Hot shop safety and etiquette will be stressed throughout the courses. Students attending one-two day courses can bring a package lunch or visit a range of good local pubs, cafés and Delis in Burnham Market and Burnham Thorpe.

Organisations and Schools

SALT also offer educational packages for organisations, schools (primary, secondary, higher eduction) and the voluntary sector,  tailored courses for all ages and abilities in glass and printmaking techniques related to curriculum subjects. SALT are fully insured with risk assessments and safety equipment and Dr Wilkes has a current CRB check.

1:1 Intermediate Courses and Professional Development

Please contact the studio to book or enquiries for individual 1;1 teaching and courses in specific technique or professional development.

Studio Hire: Glass and Print Making Equipment – Facilities – Year Round

For professional glass and print makers SALT also provide studio hire and facilities.

Open Studios Activities and Free Demonstrations 

SALT glass studios will run regular Open Studio activities and demonstrations from Winter 2012 and throughout 2013. Limited places are available but visitors can watch and learn from others creating pieces and normally try the following on a first arrived basis. Children over five are also welcome to try the following, but must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Glass Painting: Let your child paint their very own piece of glass or even have a go your self. £10 per piece of glass.
  • Glass Paperweight. Create your own tile using a selection of glass pieces £40
  • Blow A Bubble: Supervised £20
  • Hand Casting: Have your child’s hand cast in glass as memento of your visit or as a gift for that someone special. £27.00 (under 5 years) and £30.00 (over 5 years)

Students Work: Students are able to collect glass work after it has cooled down the following day or week or alternatively arrange for P&P.
