Glass and Print Making Course – Open Studio

SALT’s Winter program starts with Festive Glass Making – Open Studio  which includes  Glass Blowing, Sand Casting, Festive Bauble and Paperweight Courses & Free Demonstrations from the 1 December 2012  – 6 January 2013 – 10am – 5pm.

Sand Casting Course with Norfolk Deaf Children’s Society  

SALT had another great weekend of hot glass sand casting with local residence, visitors and organisations including Norfolk Deaf Children’s Society  http://www.norfolkdcs.co.uk. SALT received good comments from students attending the sand casting courses:

SALT’s popular Festive Bauble Course is enjoyed by all students attending with great comments:

‘It was really nice to make my own baubles rather than buying one, great experience and it was fun to make my own!’

I really enjoyed my time here, it was really fun to make the bauble and sand casts, would love to come back soon!

SALT’s opening 01.12.12

SALT’s studio opening initiated with the creation of a ‘Glass Spirit Catcher’ by Nina Plumbe

SALT was opened by Louis Thompson, the UK’s leading Glass Artist and 2012 Awardee of the reputed Jerwood Foundation ‘Makers Open Prize’ and ‘Best in Show’ at the British Glass Biennale – www.louisthompson.com

 

Glass Making: The ‘Spirit Catcher’

SALT’s studio was initiated with the creation of a ‘Glass Spirit Catcher’ by Nina Plumbe (a renowned plum farming specialist) in order to follow glass making tradition and under the expert instruction of the glass artists Max Lamb and Louis Thompson.

Visitors Making Glass Vessels & Bubbles

Visitors to SALT’s opening enjoyed an afternoon of glass making demonstrations and the opportunity to create a glasswork and discover the processes and qualities of glass making. Many visitors  commented on SALT’s ‘beautiful and imaginative glass pieces and were ‘Inspired and looking forward to learning some glass making’.
